In recent years, art projects have been developed in different places in Japan and attracted attention from various quarters. We conducted an attitude survey of the residents on Momoshima Island regarding “ART BASE Momoshima,” an artistic activity that started in 2011 on an Island within Onomichi City. The purpose of our survey is to understand precisely the characteristics of the local residents, since it is a prerequisite for promoting art projects as activities related to community regeneration. Specifically, we asked about their consciousness of their lives in general as well as their interest in the project, and we clarified issues such as the extent local residents were concern with the project, how willing residents are to cooperate and participate in the project, and what residents could be involved more actively in the project. |
