Kiryu-todoke records include significant data such as migrant's destinations, dates, birthdates and occupations.\nThe main points of this paper are as follows.\nFirst, before the Second World War, Hiroshima Prefecture was a population outflow prefecture. However, many people came from various areas to Kure city, which grew rapidly because of its importance to the navy.\nSecond, both Yamano and Miwa are villages in Hiroshima Prefecture, but there was a considerable difference in the destinations of the migrants from these villages. About 40% of the migrants from Miwa went to the coal mining areas of Fukuoka, Nagasaki and Yamaguchi prefectures, and 14% went to Hiroshima city. On the other hand, Yamano's migrants went to a wider range of areas such as neighboring counties, cities in Hiroshima Prefecture, Okayama city, and Osaka city.\nThird, before World War I, most migrants from Yamano went to neighboring villages and towns. After World War I, many people left Yamano for distant big cities such as Osaka and Tokyo.
