各種カメラパラメータの決定と共に幾何学的および光学的ひずみの補正が重要である. 本論文では, ズームレンズの光学的ひずみである画像周辺部の明度低下現象について解析を行い, その補正法を提案する. まず, 単ーレンズの画像生成過程で生じるcos^4θ現象による明度低下が主に広角レンズで問題となるのに対して, 複数枚のレンズが構成する筒状の光路で生じる口径蝕現象による明度低下が主に望遠レンズで問題となることを明らかにする. 次に, 口径蝕現象を解析するために単ーレンズの前面に可変円筒モデルを付加したカメラモデルを提案する. 円筒長, 入口半径, 出口半径の三つのパラメータをもつ可変円筒モデルを用いることによって, 出口半径が大きく (絞りを開き) 入口半径が小さいまたは円筒長が長い (ズームを望遠にする) ほど画像周辺部に大きな明度低下を生じるという口径蝕現象を導くことができる. 一様白色シーンを撮影した画像から求めたモデルパラメータを用いて実画像の明度低下の補正を行い,
