| 内容記述 | In the period of rapid economic growth, many Japanese companies came to replace domestic logs with imported ones for raw materials, because the supply of domestic timber declined. During this time some sawmills in the Hiroshima area grew much faster than those of other areas. After investigating the timber industry in the Hiroshima area during and after the period of rapid economic growth, I found the following facts. First, in the early 1960s, the Dejima timber industrial complex was built. This accelerated the growth of the timber industry in the Hiroshima area during the era of high economic growth. Second, the building of timber ponds in the Hatsukaichi area had little effect on the growth of the timber industry in the Hiroshima area after the oil shock. Third, although the demand for logs and lumber shrank in Japan after the oil shock, some timber companies led by entrepreneurial owners grew. |
