One of them is gender difference defined by researchers relating to vocabulary or grammar. The other is gender indicated consciously recognized by Japanese native speakers, that is, consciousness of usages by language users. There has not been much research on language phenomena involving unconscious beliefs of the speakers themselves. Therefore, in this study, I explore gender difference of which speakers themselves unaware aware. I call this language phenomenon “unconscious gender difference” and consider its usage. In order to capture the gender difference appearing in actual use, this survey focused on Chinese used by native Chinese speakers to describe the taste of food.
